Job Description: We are seeking highly motivated and empathetic individuals to fill several Employment and Income Assistance (EIA) Counsellors within Winnipeg & the surrounding areas.

About the Role: As an EIA Counsellor, you will work with persons living with disabilities to meet their specialized needs and ensure inclusion in the community while also partnering with employable participants and their families to encourage access and participation in the workforce.

Key Responsibilities:

  • You will interact with people with dignity, respect, objectivity, and the desire to actively listen and learn.
  • You will be a great listener, able to articulate clearly, and understand the importance of looking beyond what is at the surface.
  • You will maintain flexibility in your approach and planning with participants and their families.
  • You will collaborate with co-workers and others to better meet the needs of your participants.
  • You will adapt to changes in workload, policies, and procedures.
  • You will be comfortable with technology and use multiple computer and business programs.

Requirements:

  • You must have post-secondary education in the social services field.
  • You must have experience working with individuals/families from diverse backgrounds who may face multiple barriers and challenges.
  • You must be able to manage conflict in a calm, assertive, and respectful manner.
  • You must have strong English written communication skills.
  • You must have effective English verbal communication skills.
  • You must have strong interpersonal skills.
  • You must be able to independently problem-solve with understanding and empathy.
  • You must be able to set priorities, organize, and exercise initiative in a complex and fast-paced work environment.
  • You must be able to work effectively in a team environment.
  • You must have proficiency in MS Office (Word and Outlook).

Bonus Points:

  • You will have case management experience in a social service setting.
  • You will have knowledge of Employment and Income Assistance programs through awareness and/or lived experience.
  • You will be able to read, write, and verbally communicate in French (considered an asset but not required).

Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 per year

Location: Winnipeg & surrounding areas

Working Conditions: Must be legally entitled to work in Canada. Must have a valid full-stage Class 5 driver's license and the ability to travel within the Province of Manitoba. Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays on occasion. Must provide a current satisfactory Criminal Record Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search). Must provide a current satisfactory Child Abuse Registry Check. Must provide a current satisfactory Adult Abuse Registry Check.
