Pediatric Mental Health Clinician for Fraser Health

As a Pediatric Mental Health Clinician, you will be an integral part of our team, working collaboratively to provide person-centered and recovery-oriented care to pediatric patients.
About the RoleThe MHSU Pediatric Emergency Clinician performs intake assessments, offers crisis intervention, and provides input into the care of psychiatric and concurrent disordered pediatric patients in the Emergency Departments. This role requires travel to various site Emergency departments within Fraser Health.
Main Responsibilities:- Clinical Assessment and Intervention: Screens psychiatric referrals, gathers background information, and determines service priorities. Provides comprehensive mental health/psycho-social assessments to identify client and family needs.
- Treatment Planning and Case Management: Develops treatment plans, acts as case manager, and liaises with community resources. Communicates with Emergency department staff and other emergency service providers on patient care issues.
- Patient Advocacy and Education: Provides patient advocacy services, educates patients and families about mental health issues, and facilitates access to community resources.
- Documentation and Quality Improvement: Documents assessments, care plans, and outcomes according to practice standards. Participates in quality improvement activities by identifying patient care issues and recommending corrective action.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Master's Degree in Social Work, Clinical Counselling, or a relevant health-related discipline.
- Two (2) years' recent related clinical experience in child and adolescent mental health.
- Eligibility for registration with a relevant professional association.
- Valid BC Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle with appropriate business insurance coverage.
