  • Communicate effectively with residents, staff, and families, fostering a positive and respectful environment.
  • Deliver excellent customer service at all times, being courteous, pleasant, and respectful in your interactions.
  • Provide individualized service, creating a home-like atmosphere that promotes resident comfort and dignity.
  • Observe and report changes in resident status, ensuring timely interventions and support.
  • Record necessary data, such as flow sheets, to maintain accurate resident records.
  • Share responsibility for the care of equipment in the Home and the personal belongings of residents.
  • Work collaboratively with team members, promoting a culture of teamwork and mutual respect.
  • Receive direction from registered staff, ensuring seamless care delivery.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities, contributing to the enhancement of our care services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, supporting the overall success of our team.

    Skills & Qualifications

    Essential

    • Secondary School Graduation Diploma and a Personal Support Worker Certificate from a recognized college.
    • Team-oriented with excellent communication skills, able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
    • Understanding of the Residents' Bill of Rights and Compliance Standards as set out by the Ministry of Long-Term Care.
    • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and adapt to resident needs.

    Preferred

    • Previous experience in geriatrics, rehabilitation, or long-term care, with a focus on resident-centered care.
    • Training in Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA), with a commitment to person-centered care.
    • Familiarity with basic computer functionality, experience with Point Click Care (PCC), or Point of Care (POC), with a willingness to learn and adapt.

    Working/ Employment Conditions

    Working Conditions

    • Must be available to work a minimum of two (2) shifts plus one (1) weekend per month.
    • Must be able to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
    • Must be able to perform all necessary physical tasks associated with the care and assistance of residents.

    Employment Conditions

    • Current (obtained within the past six (6) months), original, and acceptable Criminal Records Check, including Vulnerable Sector Screening by the first day of employment.
    • Current two-step tuberculosis test (obtained within the past six (6) months) by first day of employment.
