Job Summary
The Quality Improvement Intern will play a key role in supporting the Quality and Patient Safety department in achieving our goals of delivering high-quality patient care. This role will involve collaborating with stakeholders to identify areas for improvement, developing and implementing solutions, and analyzing data to inform quality improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Support corporate quality improvement initiatives, patient safety, and professional practice initiatives
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts focused on clinical appropriateness, efficiency, effectiveness, workflow, access to care, continuity of care, safety, and patient experience
- Apply a systems-focused approach to achieve optimal results in quality, safety, reliability, efficiency, and productivity
- Develop and identify performance and outcome indicators
- Engage in collection, interpretation, analysis, and presentation of performance data
- Partner with Risk Management on key patient safety initiatives, as needed
- Develop presentations, reports, and training and educational materials
Requirements
- Enrollment in a Master of Business Administration (MBA) program
- Registered Nurse in good standing with a minimum of 2 years of healthcare experience
- Data management and statistical experience desirable
- Proven ability to remain up to date with healthcare quality assurance trends, practices, and legislation
- Experience in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data for quality improvement purposes
- Previous experience in hospital projects, preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and designing software (e.g., Canva)
- Experience with healthcare information systems and electronic health records
