We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Hardware Engineer to join our team at AlumaPower Corporation.

Company Overview:

  • We are a cleantech company developing revolutionary clean fuel products, reducing society's reliance on fossil fuels.
  • Our breakthrough technology re-invents the aluminum-air battery as a 'galvanic generator'.
  • We are currently developing an innovative long-life energy source using post-consumer scrap or abandoned aluminum as a fuel source.

Compensation:

$120,000 - $180,000 per annum, commensurate with experience.

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, development, and testing of power systems hardware.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure hardware meets project specifications.
  • Conduct simulations and analyze the performance of hardware components.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Document designs, processes, and procedures.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Essential Attributes
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in systems design.
  • Mixed signal design knowledge: amplifiers, op-amp circuitry, control circuitry, signal conditioning, etc.
  • Experience choosing components: gain/bandwidth product, common mode range, offset, bias and offset currents, etc.
  • Experience with system architecture design.
  • Hands-on experience with schematic and PCB layout.
  • Mechanical enclosure design experience.
  • Thermal design experience.
  • PCB design experience: design for signal and power integrity, stack-up design, power supply layout, design for EMI, ESD compliance.
  • Experience in solving ESD, EMI issues.
  • Detailed experience with power supply design.
  • Experience in the elements that drive power efficiency and the limitations of power components.
  • Proficient with oscilloscopes and other analog test equipment.
  • Debugging skills: ability to diagnose and get to the root cause of difficult design issues.
  • Analysis skills: proficient with Excel and skilled at using circuit simulation tools such as SPICE.
  • Ability to anticipate the short and long-term needs of a design.
  • Microcontroller design experience: ability to design around the feature set of a microcontroller, keeping the needs of software in mind.
  • Low-level firmware experience.
  • Ability to identify design trade-offs and balance them during a design.
  • Test automation skills.
  • Able to assess product requirements and derive requirements for a system.
  • Create test plans to ensure compliance with derived requirements.
