Job Summary:

JeCa - private home seeks a reliable and compassionate Child Caregiver to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional care and support to our family members, including children and adults. This is a permanent, 32-40 hour per week position that requires 1-2 years of experience, a secondary school diploma, and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assume full responsibility for household duties in the absence of parents or guardians
  • Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties, including laundry and ironing
  • Shop for food and household supplies, ensuring a healthy and nutritious environment
  • Travel with the family on trips and assist with child supervision and housekeeping duties
  • Wash, iron, and press clothing and household linens
  • Discipline children according to the approved methods
  • Instruct children in personal hygiene and social development
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment in the home, including organizing activities for children
  • Prepare and serve nutritious meals, considering any dietary restrictions
  • Prepare infants and children for rest periods
  • Supervise and care for children, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being
  • Take children to and from school, appointments, and other activities
  • Tend to the emotional well-being of children, providing a nurturing and supportive environment
  • Cook meals for the family, considering any dietary requirements

Requirements:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with children, adults, and other caregivers
  • Excellent oral communication skills, with the ability to articulate thoughts and ideas clearly
  • Flexibility, with the ability to adapt to changing situations and priorities
  • Initiative, with the ability to take on responsibilities and tasks independently
  • Judgement, with the ability to make informed decisions and take appropriate actions
  • Organized, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage time, and maintain a clean and safe environment
  • Reliability, with the ability to maintain confidentiality, respect boundaries, and follow instructions
  • Team player, with the ability to work collaboratively with other caregivers, family members, and professionals
