Physician Associate

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled and dedicated Associate Physician to join our team. As a licensed physician, you will provide medical care under the supervision of a fully licensed physician, working in the Department of Mental Health and Addictions.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Collaborate with nurses, housestaff, and attending staff to develop patient care programs.
- Communicate with patients, families, and referring physicians to ensure effective patient management.
- Manage patient care, including writing medical orders and responding to emergencies, in consultation with attending staff.
- Arrange consultations with other departments for care and investigation.
- Follow up on investigations and arrange follow-up outpatient visits.
- Participate in educational sessions and rounds as time permits.
- Contribute to on-call responsibilities of the service.
About You
- Must meet the requirements to obtain a Clinical Assistant License from The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia.
- Must have obtained (in writing) Review of Qualifications from The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia prior to application deadline.
- CMPA coverage required.
- ACLS certification required.
- Good command of written and spoken English.
- Must be able to promote and maintain good interpersonal skills.
- Completion of the equivalence of a rotating internship and postgraduate training and experience in Cardiology are considered assets.
- Physical demand - Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and perform duties as outlined above.
- Mental and Visual demand – High; must be able to deal with stressful situations.
- Competencies in other languages an asset; French preferred.
Hours and Compensation
- Permanent, Full-Time Position, 96 hrs bi-weekly.
- $63.57 Hourly.
