About the Opportunity

The IWK Health Centre is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Interventionist to join our Provincial Preschool Autism Service team. As a key member of our interprofessional team, you will provide assessment, intervention, and coordination of services to preschool-age children with autism and their families.

Working in partnership with families, healthcare providers, and community agencies, you will facilitate goal-setting processes, develop and implement intervention plans, and provide supervision to program implementers. Your expertise in evidence-based autism interventions, such as Pivotal Response Treatment and Positive Behavior Support, will be invaluable in supporting the development of children's communication, play, and other functional skills.

This is a permanent, full-time position based in Sydney or Middleton, Nova Scotia. The successful candidate will have a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology, Speech-Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy, or Board-Certified Behavior Analysis, and registration or eligibility for registration with the appropriate professional body in Nova Scotia.

Your Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Clinical Psychology, Speech-Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy, or Board-Certified Behavior Analysis
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with the appropriate professional body in Nova Scotia
  • Valid Class 5 Nova Scotia driver's license and reliable vehicle
  • CPR certification within the last 12 months and certification in First Aid
  • Two years recent experience working with children with autism (ages 0-6 years old) and their families
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in intervention for children with autism
  • Demonstrated excellence in clinical care, assessment, and intervention planning
  • Demonstrated ability to work within an interprofessional collaborative practice framework
  • Demonstrated excellent presentation, facilitation, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop and maintain internal/external partnerships
  • Demonstrated excellent time management, organization, and solution-focused skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting a culture of safety, ethical practices, and organizational health
