About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Translator to join our team at the Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association (CLHIA). As a Translator, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our written materials are available in both official languages, English and French.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate a wide range of documents, including submissions, industry guidelines, consumer guides, reports, and surveys, from English to French in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Check French documents on our website for functionality and liaise with stakeholders to resolve any issues.
  • Coordinate the day-to-day workflow of the translation service, receiving, triaging, and assigning requests from internal clients.
  • Act as the point of contact for external translation services, following up on requests and receiving invoices, checking for accuracy, and routing for approval and payment.
  • Ensure accuracy of translation by conducting terminology research, clarifying meaning with original authors or stakeholders, and revising translations prepared by other translators.

Requirements

  • University degree in a related field with 2-5 years of related experience.
  • Bilingual (English/French) and certification from an association of professional translators.
  • Understanding of life and health insurance terminology and business operations.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
