Opportunity Overview

We are seeking a skilled Visual Storyteller to join our team at Aboriginal Peoples Television Network. As a key member of our broadcasting team, you will be responsible for capturing high-quality visual content for our news programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate cameras and broadcasting equipment for newsgathering, shooting of interviews, b-roll, live stand-ups, stock footage, etc.
  • Incorporate internet-based and user-generated content for editing as required.
  • Operate linear and non-linear editing systems and digitize material.
  • Conduct live double-ender interviews from studio or remote locations as required.
  • Collaborate with team members and work well independently.
  • Perform required requests to and from all APTN formats.
  • Assist other team members and carry out other duties as needed and assigned.
  • Contribute ideas for better visual storytelling.

Requirements

  • Diploma or certificate in a relevant discipline combined with proven related experience, and traditional knowledge.
  • A valid driver's license and a clear driver's abstract.
  • Knowledge of office software and broadcast industry technology.
  • Experience with news line-up script writing software is an asset.
  • Broadcast experience would be an asset.
  • Experience working with an Indigenous organization as well as knowledge of Indigenous cultural perspectives is an asset.
