Job Overview

SaskPower is seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join its team of Powerline Technicians. This role involves working outdoors in various weather conditions, at heights, and handling heavy equipment.

The apprentice will learn to construct, repair, and maintain power pole lines and underground cable systems. Key responsibilities include:

  • Acquiring basic climbing skills, safety procedures, and operation of 'Powered Mobile Equipment.'
  • Learning complex technical skills and challenging assignments.
  • Working outside in all types of weather.
  • Handling large, bulky, and often heavy materials or equipment.

To be eligible for this position, candidates must meet the Provincial Apprenticeship and Trades Certification Standards. Additionally, they must be willing to relocate anywhere within the province and have a valid Class 5 driver's licence.

Key Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess excellent physical abilities, strong communication skills, and the capacity to work effectively in a team environment. They must also be able to perform tasks that require standing for extended periods and lifting heavy loads.

Candidates will be selected based on their ability to meet the entrance requirements outlined by the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission. A Canadian Language Benchmark Assessment level 6 (completed within the last 12 months) is mandatory.

This position offers a competitive salary, estimated to be around $60,000 per year, depending on experience and location. Successful candidates will begin their apprenticeship program in May 2025.
