Aquatic Lifeguard/Instructor Position

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Aquatic Lifeguard/Instructor Student to join our team for the summer of 2024. As a key member of our aquatic team, you will be responsible for providing a safe and enjoyable experience for our patrons while also delivering high-quality swimming lessons and aquatic fitness classes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and monitor pool areas to ensure a safe environment for patrons
- Deliver swimming lessons and aquatic fitness classes to individuals of all ages and skill levels
- Perform lifeguard duties, including rescues and first aid as needed
- Assist with pool maintenance and cleaning tasks
- Provide excellent customer service and respond to patron inquiries
Requirements:
- Must be at least 15 years of age
- Some secondary school education and related experience an asset
- Knowledge of injury prevention practices and health and safety procedures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic computer skills and ability to use Microsoft Office software
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous lifeguarding or aquatic experience an asset
- Experience working with children and adults of all ages and skill levels
- Knowledge of swimming instruction and aquatic fitness programming
