About Our Client

Our client is a leading manufacturer with a strong presence in the global market. They are seeking a seasoned accounting professional to join their team as a Senior Financial Manager.

About the Opportunity

The successful candidate will oversee full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, and compliance. Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing monthly financial packages and presenting results to senior management.
  • Reviewing journal entries and ensuring adherence to GAAP.
  • Liaising with auditors and managing bank audits, year-end tax provisions, and Canadian tax returns.
  • Managing financial systems and processes to standardize and streamline accounting operations.
  • Supervising finance and accounting staff to ensure timely and accurate production of financial information.
  • Monitoring permitted reimbursements from clients and coordinating payments based on cash flow assessments.
  • Overseeing annual physical inventory counts and managing consignment warehouses and inventory liabilities.
  • Reviewing and controlling expenses, including professional services and accounting costs.
  • Assessing and monitoring customer credit to mitigate risk exposure.
  • Tracking actual capital expenditures against approved budgets and maintaining fixed asset records.
  • Identifying and implementing effective internal controls.

Planning, Management, and Analysis

The Senior Financial Manager will participate in weekly ops meetings, perform rolling weekly forecasts, and update cash flow projections. Key responsibilities include:

  • Improving forecast accuracy and managing costs according to revenue fluctuations.
  • Updating cash flow projections and tracking actual cash flows against projections.
  • Coordinating with senior management and department heads for expense and capital expenditure planning.
  • Managing working capital to achieve efficient cash cycles and meet bank covenants.
  • Analyzing and managing key production finance metrics, including margin by customer, labor costs, and SGA costs.

About You

We are seeking a highly experienced accounting professional with:

  • A CPA designation.
  • At least 5 years of experience in an accounting role within a manufacturing environment.
  • 3-5 years of experience managing direct reports within the finance and accounting function.
  • Strong cost management experience and knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Advanced skills in Excel.
