In the E&I Department, we are seeking a full-time, permanent Electrical and/or Instrumentation Technician. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical and instrumentation mill equipment, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining equipment integrity and performing safe and efficient maintenance of all electrical, instrumentation, and control systems.
  • Installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment as required.
  • SUPPORTING department targets on production, safety, and maintenance.
  • Managing and working with the Honeywell system.
  • Executing and communicating daily electrical/instrumentation maintenance activities.
  • Responding quickly and effectively to problems/breakdowns.
  • Gathering data in support of equipment condition monitoring.
  • Helping plan and estimate efficient and cost-effective execution of jobs while minimizing the impact on operations and incurred costs.
  • Actively participating in post-event failure analysis and root cause discussions, contributing to developing solutions.
  • Ensuring preventative maintenance guidelines are adhered to and maintaining complete and accurate records associated with technical and preventative aspects.
  • Reviewing and applying continuous improvement to safe work practices, procedures, and standards.

Qualifications and Experience:

Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent and be a certified Red Seal Instrumentation or Electrical Journeyperson. An Instrumentation Technologist Diploma is considered an asset.

Candidates should also have:

  • Mechanical aptitude with strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and technical abilities.
  • Experience working with programmable logic controllers and computers.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret equipment specifications, engineering drawings, blueprints, charts, and tables as required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Honeywell systems, and a computerized maintenance management system (specifically Avantis) is considered an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of maintenance and operations.
  • Pulp mill and industrial maintenance experience is considered an asset.

This role works four 10-hour days a week, from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, offering a 3-day weekend every week. Compensation is based on experience, qualifications, and competency, with an hourly rate range of $49.16-$56.04, plus a 5% Average Regular Premium (ARP), and overtime paid at double the hourly rate. You will also start with three weeks (120 hours) of annual vacation, prorated based on your start date.
