Job Description:

This role is responsible for administering, supporting, monitoring, and tuning the Power BI reporting environment. Key responsibilities include designing, extending, and enhancing Power BI data models, developing new cubes, and optimizing cube performance by fine-tuning measures, aggregations, partitions, and processing strategies. Additionally, this role involves developing, testing, and deploying DAX-based scripts, queries, and functions in Power BI, creating and optimizing complex DAX expressions for tabular models, and designing and developing Power BI dashboards and reports. The ideal candidate will have a strong proficiency in SQL, SSAS/AAS tabular modeling, DAX, Power BI, and paginated reports, as well as experience working with Azure-based BI solutions, including Azure SQL, Azure Synapse, Data Factory, Blob Storage, and Data Lakes. A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field is required, along with 5+ years of experience in BI development and 5+ overall industry experience in data analytics and dashboarding/reporting. Microsoft certifications, such as the Azure Data Engineer Associate and Power BI Data Analyst, are a plus. As a remote position, this role is open to qualified applicants in Ontario and Nova Scotia, where Cognizant has hubs. What You Will Do:

  • Administer, support, monitor, and tune the Power BI reporting environment.
  • Design, extend, and enhance Power BI data models and develop new cubes.
  • Optimize cube performance by fine-tuning measures, aggregations, partitions, and processing strategies.
  • Develop, test, and deploy DAX-based scripts, queries, and functions in Power BI.
  • Create and optimize complex DAX expressions for tabular models.
  • Design and develop Power BI dashboards and reports.


What You Bring to the Role:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of BI developer experience (SSAS, DAX, Power BI, paginated report, Power BI Gateway, Service, Security).
  • 5+ overall industry experience in data analytics & dashboarding/reporting.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, SSAS/AAS tabular modeling, DAX, Power BI, and paginated reports.
  • Experience working with Azure-based BI solutions including Azure SQL, Azure Synapse, Data Factory, Blob Storage & Data Lakes.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills.


Certifications (Nice to Have):

  • Microsoft Certified Azure Data Engineer Associate.
  • Microsoft Certified Power BI Data Analyst.
