Job Title: Planning Specialist

The Lands and Planning Branch is seeking a highly skilled Planning Specialist to join our team.

Job Summary

We are looking for a Planning Specialist to develop and implement provincial Crown land planning, operational land use policies, and deliver programs and initiatives for lands administered under the Crown Lands Act.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement provincial Crown land planning policies and programs.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to incorporate land-planning principles and ensure effective stewardship of Crown land.
  • Make sound land use recommendations through critical thinking, analytical, and emotional intelligence skills.
  • Travel to rural, northern, remote communities throughout the province, by various forms of transportation, with occasional overnight stays.
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in planning, land management, or public administration.
  • Experience related to land use planning, researching, analyzing, and interpreting legislation, regulations, and planning policies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, ability to integrate scientific, technical, stakeholder, and Indigenous knowledge in land use decisions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to collaborate and maintain effective working relationships with various stakeholders.
Working Conditions
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid full stage Manitoba Class 5 Drivers Licence.
  • Must be physically capable of performing duties and functions of the position, including walking over rough terrain, lifting up to 30 lbs., and occasionally working in inclement weather conditions.
