Job Title: Marble Cutter

We are seeking a skilled Marble Cutter to join our team at 10486043 CANADA INC. as a permanent employee. The successful candidate will work 40 hours per week in a dynamic environment.

Job Summary

The Marble Cutter will be responsible for operating blade or wire saws to cut blocks of stone to specified dimensions, constructing clay models and moulds for use in casting concrete products, and recording manufacturing information such as quantity, size and type of goods produced.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate blade or wire saws to cut blocks of stone to specified dimensions
  • Construct clay models and moulds for use in casting concrete products
  • Record manufacturing information such as quantity, size and type of goods produced
  • Set up and operate automatic machines that mix ingredients, extrude tempered clay mixture and cut extruded clay into sections
  • Set up, adjust and operate single-function machines to mix, drill, grind and cut concrete to specifications
  • Build and repair wooden frames used to mould concrete products
  • Check products for quality control
  • Move products using forklift, crane or hydraulic hoist
  • Operate machines to grind and polish surfaces of stone blocks, slabs or other stone products to specific shape or design and to produce a smooth finish
  • Operate mechanical or hydraulic ram and hot-presses to form pottery and porcelain ware
  • Operate sandblasting equipment to cut inscriptions or decorative designs in monumental stone
  • Perform ongoing machine adjustments
  • Position reinforcing rods or wire mesh in moulds
  • Prepare and mix slip
  • Fill moulds with concrete
  • Fill moulds with slip to form pottery and porcelain ware
  • Operate stone-dressing lathe to sharpen and dress grindstones that grind logs into pulp
  • Read blueprint, schemas and drawings
  • Operate kiln to bake clay products to specified hardness
  • Operate machines to drill holes in blocks or slabs of stone according to specifications
  • Operate vibrating tables to settle concrete
  • Finish stone products with spray paint and by mounting plaques or installing concrete bases
  • Tamp concrete using electric vibrator
  • Remove castings from moulds
  • Finish surfaces of castings using screed or trowel
  • Cut cured concrete pipe sections with saw or chisel and cement sections together to form odd-shaped fittings
Requirements
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • 7 months to less than 1 year of experience
