About This Opportunity

The Wije'winen Health Centre, a multidisciplinary clinic serving Mi'kmaq families in Halifax and beyond, is seeking a part-time family physician to cover a maternity leave. The centre is located within the Mi'kmaw Native Friendship Centre on Brunswick Street, and it collaborates with various teams, including mental health, housing, social work, and more.

This position offers a unique opportunity to work with a diverse patient population and be part of a rewarding team. As a full-time family physician, you will have the chance to make a significant impact on the lives of your patients and their families.

Responsibilities will include examining patients, taking their histories, ordering diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures, advising patients on healthcare, health promotion, and disease prevention, consulting with other medical practitioners, acting as a patient advocate, prescribing and administering medications and treatments, inoculations and vaccinations, and reporting births, deaths, contagious diseases, and other health events as per Nova Scotia Public Health requirements.

You will be working 0.2 FTE, which is equivalent to about 4 hours a week. The pay is based on the current CAFP agreement.

To be successful in this role, you must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS) and certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC). You should also be a member of the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA).

We are offering a competitive salary range of $250,000 to $300,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
