Job Description

Agility Partners is seeking a seasoned Cloud Data Architect Lead to spearhead data pipeline development, model and prepare data, perform complex data analysis to address business queries, build and automate data pipeline and quality framework to empower self-service data pipelines, and assist in operationalizing AI/ML engineering solutions.

About This Role
  • This role leads and guides other team members in designing patterns and coding standards, playing an active part in the client's data modernization project to migrate on-prem platforms like IBM Netezza to cloud.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with engineering teams and enterprise architecture to define standards, design patterns, accelerators, development practices, DevOps, and CI/CD automation.
  2. Create and maintain data ingestion, quality testing, and audit frameworks.
  3. Conduct complex data analysis to answer business users' or technology teams' queries directly or through reporting tools like PowerBI, Tableau, OBIEE.
  4. Design and automate data ingestion, transformation, and aggregation pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Databricks/Spark, Snowflake, Kafka, and enterprise scheduler tools like CA Workload Automation or Control M.
  5. Establish and promote metadata-driven approaches to data pipelines for self-service.
  6. Set up and continuously improve data quality and audit monitoring, as well as alerting.
  7. Evaluate process automation options and collaborate with engineering and architecture to review proposed designs.
  8. Demonstrate mastery of build and release engineering principles and methodologies, including source control, branch management, build, smoke testing, archiving, and retention practices.
  9. Adhere to and enhance documented design principles, best practices by collaborating with solution and enterprise architects.
  10. Participate in and support the Data Academy and Data Literacy program to train business users and technology teams on data.
  11. Respond to SLA-driven production data quality or pipeline issues.
  12. Work in a fast-paced Agile/Scrum environment.
  13. Identify and assist with implementing DevOps practices in support of fully automated deployments.
  14. Document data flow diagrams, data models, technical data mapping, and production support information for data pipelines.
  15. Foster industry-standard data security practices and evangelize them across the team.
Requirements
  • 6+ years of experience in Enterprise Data Management or Data Engineering roles.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in building metadata-driven data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Databricks/Spark for cloud datalakes.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with using one or more of the following for data analysis and wrangling: Databricks, Python/PySpark, Jupyter Notebooks.
  • Expert-level SQL knowledge on databases such as Snowflake, Netezza, Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, Teradata.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with one or more big data technologies like Cloudera Hadoop, Pivotal, Vertica, MapR.
  • Experience working in multi-developer environments and hands-on experience with Azure DevOps or GitLab.
  • Preferably experienced in SLA-driven Production Data Pipeline or Quality support.
  • Experience or strong understanding of traditional ETL platforms like IBM Datastage, Informatica, Pentaho, Ab Initio.
  • Functional knowledge of Terraform, Azure CLI, PowerShell, Containerization (Kubernetes, Docker).
  • Functional knowledge of one or more Reporting tools like PowerBI, Tableau, OBIEE.
  • Team player with excellent communication skills, ability to communicate with customers directly and explain deliverable status in scrum calls.
