Job Summary

The Chelsea Hotel, Toronto is seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our facilities operations team, you will be responsible for coordinating and supervising the work of colleagues in the general maintenance and upkeep of the hotel, grounds, and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and supervise the work of maintenance colleagues
  • Review and assign work to maintenance colleagues
  • Prepare and monitor work schedules
  • Conduct daily tours of the building to identify areas that need attention
  • Coordinate and inspect repairs performed on electrical, plumbing, heating, cooling, ventilation systems, and other related systems
  • Ensure prompt repairs by responding to emergency breakdowns
  • Comply and enforce all Health & Safety regulations in the workplace
  • Investigate accidents and prepare relevant reports
  • Provide support and be familiar with the Environmental Management System
  • Complete special assignments or projects as assigned
  • Attend training as required
  • Monitor inventory of materials and equipment
  • Ensure all policies, procedures, and practices are adhered to

Requirements

  • Previous supervisory experience is required
  • Experience in a maintenance/engineering office is an asset
  • Experience supervising or working within a unionized environment is an asset
  • Flexibility to work any shift, including weekends and evenings
  • Strong computer skills, proficient in Microsoft applications
  • Familiar with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations
  • Must have technical skills and knowledge of various crafts, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems
  • Strong verbal communication skills, able to instruct employees in the performance of required tasks
  • Strong knowledge of administrative tasks, such as scheduling
  • High school diploma; degree from a vocational school is an asset
  • Professional certifications, such as CMRP or HVAC certified, are preferred
