Cervini Farms (1993) Inc. is seeking a skilled Farm Labourer to join our team. As a Farm Labourer, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks including:

  • Applying fertilizers to crops
  • Cleaning the crops to ensure they are free of debris and pests
  • Dividing fresh harvested produce into marketable lots and non-marketable lots
  • Greenhouse cleaning to maintain a clean and healthy environment for our crops
  • Guiding growing shoots into optimal development positions
  • Hand harvesting vegetables to ensure they are picked at the optimal time
  • Leveling earth to fine grade specifications to prepare the soil for planting
  • Packing fruits and vegetables for distribution
  • Planting, cultivating, and irrigating crops to ensure they receive the necessary care
  • Removing manually all suckers and water sprouts to promote healthy growth
  • Sorting fruits and vegetables to ensure they are of the highest quality
  • Tying and securing plants to prevent damage
  • Cleaning the work area to maintain a safe and healthy environment
  • Fertilizing and spraying crops to promote healthy growth
  • Harvesting crops at the optimal time to ensure they are of the highest quality
  • Operating and maintaining farm machinery and equipment to ensure they are in good working condition
  • Transplanting seedlings or rooted cuttings to promote healthy growth
  • Spraying or dusting plants with insecticides and fungicides to prevent pests and diseases
  • Reporting signs of insect or disease damage to ensure prompt action can be taken
  • Potting and re-potting plants to promote healthy growth
  • Planting bulbs and seeds to ensure a continuous supply of crops
  • Performing general farm duties as required
  • Operating climate controls to maintain a healthy environment for our crops
  • Digging up wrapping rootballs of trees and shrubs to prepare them for planting
  • Assisting in grafting activities to promote healthy growth
  • Cutting horticultural crops to ensure they are harvested at the optimal time

Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to handle heavy loads
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment
  • Ability to distinguish between colors
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to bend, crouch, and kneel
  • Ability to walk
  • Ability to lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
