Your Opportunity:
The Cardiology Intensive Care Unit Nurse will provide care in a cardiology intensive care unit and perform as a member of the hospital code blue team.
Description:
As a Registered Nurse, you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being.
In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families.
You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance.
You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of Alberta Health Services.
Please note that Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid a rate of pay that will be adjusted upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses.
Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta.
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider.
If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Must have related experience, be motivated to succeed and can complete the provincial critical care orientation program.
Must possess strong critical thinking skills with a demonstrated ability to problem solve and organize in a busy workflow environment.
Basic computer skills required.
Ability to tolerate constant walking, standing, kneeling, bending, reaching and sustained posture within a fast-paced unit requiring lifting, pushing, and pulling of objects greater than 30 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:
Recent experience, skill and knowledge in advanced dysrhythmia and 12 lead ECG interpretations, hemodynamic monitoring, mechanical ventilation and intra-aortic balloon pump.
