Position Overview

Humber River Health is seeking a compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic team in the Stroke Program. As a valued member of our Allied Services Department, you will provide evaluation, treatment, and education to assist patients in doing things with the abilities they have, and help to facilitate their activities of daily living, including the physical and cognitive aspects of their recovery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing Occupational Therapy services to the Stroke Program patients within the acute care setting.
  • Providing appropriate assessment and treatment for referred patients.
  • Recording patient assessment, progress, and discharge status.
  • Providing discharge planning in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team members, including applications to other resources.
  • Recording workload measurement data.
  • Working as a member of the healthcare team regarding services provided.
  • Providing consultation to other disciplines in the area of physical medicine.
  • Clinical supervision of Rehabilitation Assistants.
  • Clinical supervision of students, including Occupational Therapist and/or OTA/PTA students.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario required.
  • Membership in CAOT preferred.
  • Previous occupational therapy experience in an acute setting is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a variety of tasks and work efficiently.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to act as a valuable part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated flexibility, adaptability, creativity, and resourcefulness.
  • Excellent attendance and discipline-free record required.
