The Role

We're seeking a seasoned Eyecare Communications Strategist to grow our brand in Canada. This hybrid role requires 3 days on-site at our Burnaby office and 2 days remote per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • PR Management: Manage the in-house PR team, ensuring their focus meets business and personal objectives.
  • Senior Management Team: Be an integral part of the senior management team within Marketing and foster a culture of coordinated working practices and relationships.
  • Agency Partnerships: Manage PR Agency partners in Canada.
  • Annual PR Plan: Develop and oversee the implementation of the annual PR plan for Canada, ensuring it delivers on KPIs and is executed within budget across consumer and professional audiences.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with international PR in Specsavers UK, Australia/New Zealand and Northern Europe.
  • Event Support: Provide PR for events and launches on a national and local level, as required.
  • Local Advice: Oversee the provision of local PR advice and strategic and executional support to Specsavers store partners and other departments.
  • Opportunity Assessment: Seek and assess pro-active and reactive PR opportunities and initiatives.
  • Reporting: Complete monthly PR report for the Canada Operating Board and other internal stakeholders, as required.
  • Crisis Management: Provide crisis and issues advice and management.
  • Media Training: Provide media training for media spokespeople and store partners.
  • Budget Management: Set and manage the PR budget.
  • CSR Strategy: Establish strategy for and manage the ongoing Specsavers Canada corporate social responsibility (CSR) program.
  • Stakeholder Management: Partner with key stakeholders to assist in managing corporate affairs.
  • Diversity and Inclusion: Collaborate closely with HR on DE&I planning and execution.
  • Multichannel Campaigns: Work closely with Head of Brand and Creative to drive multichannel campaigns across Paid and Earned Media.
  • Social Media Management: Run the Social Media and Ambassador/Influencer team and agency.
  • Financial Acumen: Responsible for a multi-million dollar PR budget and ROI overall.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Depth of consumer PR experience, 15+ years.
  • Education: Bachelor of Communications or related discipline.
  • Skillset: Strong Social Media skills, and understanding of digital technology.
  • Negotiation: Contract negotiation.
  • Ambassador Management: Ambassador management experience.
  • Proven Track Record: Proven campaign management.
  • Budget Oversight: Budget management.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven experience in people management.
  • Writing Ability: Exceptional writing and editing ability.
  • Industry Expertise: A mix of in-house PR and agency experience is ideal.
