Pauktuutit Inuit Women of Canada seeks a highly experienced and skilled Director of Indigenous Affairs to lead the organization's vision, mission, and mandate with the highest standards on behalf of Inuit women. This role will be responsible for strategic planning, governance, organizational leadership, brand management, and team leadership.

Job Summary

The Director of Indigenous Affairs will serve as the key liaison between the Board of Directors and the Pauktuutit team, managing overall organizational risk and risk mitigation strategies. This position requires a strong understanding of Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit and the ability to inspire others to the organization's mission and vision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning and Strategic Direction: Develop and execute Pauktuutit's strategic plan, including developing and overseeing implementation of new focus areas, fund diversification, and stakeholder management.
  • Governance – enabling the Board of Directors: Provide support to the Board in fulfilling its duties and responsibilities, ensuring effective decision-making and oversight.
  • Organization and Fiscal Leadership: Oversee the organization's finances, ensuring compliance with contribution agreement requirements and making informed decisions about resource allocation.
  • Brand Leadership: Develop and implement a strong brand strategy that reflects Pauktuutit's values and mission, enhancing the organization's reputation and visibility.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and manage a high-performing team, fostering a culture of inclusivity, respect, and collaboration.

  • Critical Thinking: Ability to perform in-depth analyses of complex problems, evaluating multiple intangible variables and alternative solutions, and making accurate and timely decisions.
  • Political Acumen: Strong knowledge or experience with policy structures of the Canadian government, including parliamentary committees and governance systems.
  • Excellent Communication: Clear, concise, and articulate written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write compelling messages for various mediums and audiences.
  • Strong Negotiation: Ability to motivate others to desired outcomes while preserving critical relationships and maintaining a positive work environment.
  • Leadership Style: Collaborative, inclusive, and respectful, with a commitment to high professional standards and building high-performance teams in a diverse workplace.
  • Experience: Minimum 15 years' progressive experience in non-profit management or funding-based organizations, including at least 10 years' leading cross-functional teams.
