Main Purpose and Function

This role oversees the supervision of cashiers and gift shop staff at VanDusen Botanical Garden, ensuring efficient operations at the Admissions Desk and Gift Shop. The position is responsible for scheduling, training, and hiring/recruitment, as well as performing time entry for payroll.

The Cashier Supervisor works closely with the Special Events Coordinators, Facility Booking Clerks, Marketing Coordinator, and Vancouver Botanical Gardens Association staff to achieve the goals of the facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee scheduling, staffing, and operations at the Admissions Desk and Gift Shop.
  • Process purchase orders and invoices, receive merchandise, and resolve discrepancies with suppliers.
  • Review, record, and balance fiscal remittances.
  • Order and stock supplies required at the Admissions Desk.
  • Manage registers, Moneris devices, and large cash floats for special events.
  • Invoice and provide entry for groups, and assist with memberships and needs.
  • Act as the main point of contact for ActiveNet staff.
  • Provide information to patrons and the general public.

Qualifications

Completion of Grade Twelve supplemented by considerable retail and cashiering experience, including some supervisory responsibility, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
