MRI Technologist: Imagining the Future of Patient Care

We are seeking a highly skilled Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist to join our team at BC Cancer in Vancouver, BC. As an MRI Technologist, you will be responsible for performing MRI examinations in accordance with departmental policy and procedures.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will have a strong understanding of MRI theory and practices within a client/family-centered model of care. They will also possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to work effectively with clients, families, coworkers, physicians, and other healthcare staff.
Key Responsibilities- Perform MRI examinations in accordance with established procedures by completing requisitions and related paperwork, correlating clinical history with examination to be performed, positioning patients and explaining clinical procedures.
- Monitor patients during procedures by observing and responding to possible contrast media reactions or other emergent situations in accordance with facility policies and procedures.
- Conduct image studies using MRI equipment and departmental information systems by checking patient identification, collating images with requisitions, and requesting previous studies.
- Facilitate workflow by checking information on requisitions meets departmental standards, regulating inpatient examination time, and arranging departmental and/or facility porters.
- Perform quality control duties such as scheduling and performing equipment tests, recording results, and identifying malfunctioning equipment for repair.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- Certification with CAMRT (Magnetic Resonance Imaging)
- Completion of Intravenous Therapy training course when required by site practice and one year recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification - Basic Life Support (BCLS) level
