Medical Director

Hastings County is seeking a highly skilled Medical Director to lead our medical services team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality medical care to our residents and collaborating with our interdisciplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide leadership and oversight of medical services in accordance with the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021, and Hastings/Quinte Long-Term Care policies.
- Communicate effectively with Attending Physicians and Nurse Practitioners regarding policies, procedures, and responsibilities.
- Ensure on-call coverage is arranged for all residents, in accordance with the LTC on-call program.
- Advocate for interdisciplinary resident-family integrated care and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Address resident acute and chronic care needs and document in the home's electronic medical records system.
- Identify circumstances requiring referral to medical consultants and/or other health practitioners and facilitate care.
- Conduct regular medication reviews and update resident health records.
- Complete the Ontario Long Term Care Clinicians (OLTCC) Medical Director Course within one year of hire date.
- Provide advice to the Administrator/Director of Long-Term Care/Hastings & Quinte LTC Committee on medical care and services.
- Participate in long-term care home committees, including Continuous Quality Improvement and Professional Advisory.
