About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Framing Carpenter to join our team at Galaxy Homes. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for ensuring the structural integrity and quality of our homes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read and Interpret Blueprints: Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine work requirements and ensure compliance with building codes.
  • Prepare and Install Building Components: Prepare layouts, measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials to build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems.
  • Install Finishing Touches: Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware to ensure a high-quality finish.
  • Estimate and Manage Materials: Estimate costs and materials required for projects and manage inventory to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Maintain and Repair Structures: Maintain, repair, and renovate residences and wooden structures in various settings, including mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants, and other establishments.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
  • Work at Heights: Work at heights, including climbing ladders and scaffolding, to access and complete tasks.
  • Physical Demands: Perform tasks that require bending, crouching, kneeling, and handling heavy loads, as well as working in combination with sitting, standing, and walking.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a related field.
  • Physical Abilities: Ability to work at heights, handle heavy loads, and perform tasks that require bending, crouching, kneeling, and combination of sitting, standing, and walking.
