Job Title: Group Leader - EXCEL Program

Join the Halifax Regional Center for Education Excel team as a Group Leader - EXCEL Program. This is a dynamic role that requires a strong passion for working with children and a commitment to providing a safe and engaging environment.

Job Summary:

The Group Leader - EXCEL Program is responsible for leading a group of students in a variety of settings, including the classroom, program areas, and outside play areas. This role requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, as well as the ability to supervise children and maintain a safe environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement structured, recreational-based activities for students
  • Supervise students to ensure a safe environment and provide support as needed
  • Assist students with personal care and hygiene
  • Lead outside play and/or activities
  • Facilitate positive interactions among all students
  • Provide feedback on student observations to the Program Team Leader or parent/guardian
  • Address parent and school staff inquiries
Requirements:
  • Early Childhood Education diploma or University background in Child Studies or Recreation
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in a professional child care or recreation setting
  • Physical abilities consistent with requirements of the job
  • First Aid/CPR training considered an asset
