About This Opportunity

We are seeking a Mechanical Designer to join our Ottawa office. As a trained engineer with a passion for mechanical building services design, you will have the skills to produce drawings in Autodesk Revit and solve complex problems on your own or as part of a team.

Your Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for designing building systems in accordance with municipal or provincial building codes and other applicable standards. This includes developing layouts and designs of mechanical building systems such as heating, ventilation and air conditioning, fire protection systems, plumbing and draining systems, and specialized plumbing systems.

You will also prepare project-specific details to clarify project scope and create building sections to assist with interference coordination between building systems. Additionally, you will prepare calculations to size ductwork, gas, HVAC, piping, plumbing and drainage, incorporating these into technical drawings.

Other key responsibilities include preparing calculations to size equipment, coordinating with necessary project consultants, and supervising drawings between other disciplines.

Your Skills and Qualifications
  • Three or more years of direct industry experience in the field of mechanical building services.
  • Diploma/Degree from a mechanical building services/engineering program.
  • Knowledge and experience working with Autodesk Revit 2017 or newer, with exposure to mechanical layouts and systems.
  • Working knowledge of Autodesk AutoCAD, AutoCAD MEP, Navisworks Manage, and Dynamo software.
  • Knowledge of all Microsoft Office suites, specifically Word and Excel.
  • Working knowledge with various mechanical systems such as heating, air conditioning, plumbing systems, etc.
  • Familiar with structural, architectural, and electrical models to appreciate space limitations and interferences.

A competitive salary of $80,000 - $110,000 per year is offered based on qualifications and experience.
