About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Support Staff Assistant to join our team at Musquodoboit Rural High. As an integral part of our educational program, this role will provide essential support to students, staff, and families.

Salary and Benefits

The starting annual salary for a 100% position is $35,817.70, including 4% vacation pay. Rates are based on a five-step scale with step increases occurring annually in accordance with the Collective Agreement.

Job Description

The Support Staff Assistant will be responsible for:

  • Providing daily support to students with diverse needs, ensuring their safety and well-being;
  • Assisting with classroom activities, such as preparing materials and implementing programs;
  • Communicating effectively with students, staff, and families to ensure seamless day-to-day operations;
  • Participating in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge;
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A valid First Aid/CPR Certification;
  • The ability to lift up to 20 pounds;
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification;
  • Willingness to be trained in areas such as toileting, personal care, use of assistive technology, seizure management, and behaviour management support;
  • Experience working with students with autism, or related experience;
  • A related diploma or certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution, or equivalent experience.
