Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Welder Apprentice, Vessels Specialist to join our team at Propak. As a key member of our fabrication and welding team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality of workmanship and adhering to strict safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications to ensure accurate and efficient completion of tasks.
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using various processes, including gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), and shielded metal arc welding (SMAW).
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment to precision-cut metal components.
  • Operate metal shaping machines, such as brakes, shears, and other metal straightening and bending machines, to shape and form metal components.
  • Repair worn parts of metal products by welding on extra layers and ensuring a strong and durable bond.
  • Remove metal and/or prepare materials for welding by gouging and grinding, ensuring a smooth and even surface.
  • Ensure all welding equipment is clean and functional, and assist with the maintenance and repair of welding equipment as needed.
  • May adjust welding heads and tooling according to work specifications to ensure optimal performance.
Requirements
  • Be a 2nd or 3rd year registered apprentice in a recognized welding program.
  • Have 1-2 years of directly related work experience in welding and fabrication.
  • Be able to interpret welding process specifications and operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment.
  • Have excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with other trades and co-workers.
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will work in a shop environment that may be noisy or dusty, with materials that may be dirty. The position may require standing for long periods of time, working in confined spaces, and using various types and sizes of ladders. The candidate must be able to lift and move items that weigh over 20 kilograms.
