Job Description

Canada Cartage Group is seeking a skilled SQL Database Administrator to join our team. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for administering and supporting our Microsoft SQL databases, ensuring optimal performance and availability for our enterprise and in-house applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor database performance and manage parameters to ensure optimal response time for front-end users.
  • Manage the execution and completion of back-end jobs and services on production servers.
  • Manage data replication from source databases to replicated destinations to ensure data availability for business reporting.
  • Collaborate with the Infrastructure Team to ensure database backup completion.
  • Troubleshoot database errors and perform root cause analysis to determine the cause of issues and provide recommendations for solutions.
  • Monitor and document security and compliance threats that may affect production databases, such as unauthorized access, data loss, and long-running queries.
  • Support the Infrastructure team in server patch updates and projects as required.
  • Produce reports on database usage, volume growth, and query execution time.
  • Provide support to the development team in database design, query optimization, and production deployment.
  • Develop queries and stored procedures for applications to interact with databases.

Requirements:

  • 3 years of experience in database administration.
  • Azure Data Warehouse and SQL as Managed Service.
  • BizTalk SSIS.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication skills (written, verbal, and listening).
  • Hands-on experience with database administration, data manipulation languages, and core principles of database design.
  • MS-SQL.
  • Power BI, SSRS.
  • SQL Server databases, preferably in Quest Spotlight.
  • SQL Server database backup, recovery, log shipping, and transactional replication.
