Centre Manager for a Not-for-Profit Child Care Centre

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Centre Manager to join our team at Sentient HR Services Inc. The successful candidate will provide leadership to our Childcare and Before & After School Program at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Elementary School.
Main Responsibilities
The Centre Manager will be responsible for the full operation of the site, including staff supervision, training, and coaching; child programming; parent engagement; liaising with stakeholders; and meeting licensing requirements.
Key Accountabilities
- Manage the child enrollment process, direct parents to the wait list procedure when there are no spots available, and ensure that all enrollment forms have been completed and submitted by the parent.
- Communicate with parents directly when a spot is available, explain the enrollment procedure, and collect banking information and cheques from parents.
- Prepare for the integration of new children, work with the Assistant Director to apply for external resources, and maintain child records and track child attendance within Childcare Management Software.
- Lead program planning for the site, PA Days, March Break, and Summer Camp, and evaluate programs to ensure they meet the needs of individual children and the group.
- Respond to parents' queries regarding various matters, solicit parent feedback, and participate in case conferences and other meetings as necessary.
Staff Management
- Oversee, approve, and submit daily staff attendance and working hours for payroll processing, and participate in the hiring, onboarding, and training process of new staff, students, and volunteers.
- Conduct ongoing individual supervision, provide feedback, goal setting, coaching, and mentoring, and lead regular team meetings to provide feedback, training, and site-specific updates.
Operations
The Centre Manager will ensure that site licensing requirements are met, including maintaining ratios, staff files, policies, and procedures, and monitoring and controlling the site's budget for food, equipment, and supplies.
Requirements
- Education
- A Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Education from a recognized post-secondary institution or the equivalent in education and experience.
- Experience
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in a supervisory capacity within a Childcare environment and Before and After School Program.
- Five (5) or more years of experience as a Registered Early Childhood Educator, working in an integrated setting with children of different abilities and ages (Infant to School-Age).
Qualifications and Conditions of Employment
- Current Red Cross or Standard St. John Ambulance certificate in First Aid and Infant and Child CPR Certificate.
- Certification with the College of Early Childhood in good standing.
- Working knowledge of the Child Care & Early Years Act (CCEYA).
