Forestry Instructor

Lethbridge College is seeking a highly qualified Forestry Instructor to join our team in the School of Environmental Sciences. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering courses in forest management, fire management, and grassland and forest resources. The ideal candidate will have a Master of Science in a forest-related discipline and significant years of field experience in forest management and fire management. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the goals and activities of the Centre for Technology, Environment & Design (CTED) and support inclusiveness and diversity through embracing the college's policies on indigenization and internationalization. The primary instructional assignment will be as follows: RRM-2264 Forest Management: A strong background in forest ecology is required, along with experience in timber operations and planning, as well as silviculture. Technical field experience in dendrology, tree measurement, forest inventory, and timber harvest planning and operations are a must. RRM-2299 Fire Management: A strong background in fire weather, fire behaviour, wildfire operations, fire ecology, and prescribed fire management is required. Application of the Fire Weather Index (FWI) and Fire Behaviour Prediction (FBP) Systems is an important asset. RRM-2250 Grassland and Forest Resources: This is a team-taught course where the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering the forestry outcomes specific to this course in a compressed format. Additional courses may be added depending on the successful candidate's skill set. The successful candidate will require a minimum of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Forestry with significant years of field experience in forest management and fire management. Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills necessary to contribute positively to a team environment.
