About the Job:
The Perioperative Care Specialist at Interior Health Authority plays a vital role in providing nursing care to patients undergoing surgery. This position requires the ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team to enhance the quality of life for patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides nursing care to patients undergoing surgery, including pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care.
- Collaborates with other healthcare providers to ensure seamless care transitions and optimal patient outcomes.
- Participates in continuous quality improvement initiatives to advance nursing practice and patient care.
- Maintains and advances own clinical competence through ongoing education and professional development.
About this Location/Unit:
The VJH is a regional care facility with five integrated operating theaters, supporting a range of surgical services. The ORs are equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including a case cart delivery system and Vocera communication tool. Perioperative records are online, and the Alex Gold instrument tracking system is in place.
