Job Description

EBC Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Safety Coordinator to oversee health and safety compliance on construction sites across Ontario. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the well-being of workers, maintaining regulatory compliance, and upholding industry standards.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Provincial HSE Manager to develop and implement effective strategies for achieving company goals and targets.
  • Provide guidance to HSE Coordinators on OHSMS and COR requirements.
  • Conduct site inspections to identify hazards, suggest controls, and verify compliance with expected practices and behaviors.
  • Ensure Health and Safety documentation meets current regulations and is distributed to projects as needed.
  • Assist in accident investigations and support project teams in adhering to Event Management Protocols and Procedures.
  • Evaluate Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs) and other risk analysis tools for accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Recommend corrective actions to prevent accidents and incidents.
  • Develop project emergency response plans and participate in official inquiries by Government Officials.
  • Counsel management and workers on meeting safety requirements.
  • Participate in creating project-specific standards, methods, and safety procedures.
  • Maintain contact with sites and foster a positive safety culture.
  • Verify consistency in expected safety performance and ensure fair application of progressive discipline.
  • Enter information into the EBC Safety Database daily.
Requirements:
  • Completion of a College or University program related to Safety practices in Construction.
  • Work experience on Construction/Industrial sites in Ontario, preferably involving labor and equipment operation, surveying-engineering, traffic control, quality control, project support/supervision, and trades.
  • Geographic and Cultural Diversity exposure to several regions, companies, and people to gain awareness of safety expectations and differences in business practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and other commonly used programs (Paint, Adobe Acrobat, Database Programs, and Internet Browsers); file management, taking screenshots, and basic graphics editing.
  • OHS training related to applicable Acts and Regulations, and an understanding of the background behind explaining reasons when questioned.
  • Health and Safety certifications including CHSO/NCSO Provincial recognition, and a minimum Gold Seal Canadian Construction Association National Certification.
  • Other standard safety-related certifications that allow for ease of moving between projects.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively within teams.
Estimated Salary: $65,000 - $90,000 per year
