Job Summary

Aecon Group Inc. is seeking a skilled Pipefitter / Steamfitter to join our team. As a Pipefitter / Steamfitter, you will be responsible for providing full cycle, in-depth knowledge and support for the profession of Pipefitter / Steamfitter to ensure Aecon Group Inc. achieves its general and specific project requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Study blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the type of pipe and tools to use and lay out the sequence of tasks
  • Make detailed sketches for pipe and equipment fabrication and installation
  • Measure, cut, thread, groove, bend, solder, assemble, and install metal, plastic, and fibreglass pipes, valves, and fittings
  • Join pipe sections and related equipment and secure in position
  • Use testing equipment to check systems for leaks
  • Remove and replace worn components and do general maintenance work
Requirements
  • Certified Journeyperson Trade Ticket or indentured in the apprenticeship program
  • 2-3 years' experience reading piping and instrumentation design diagrams
  • 2-3 years' experience laying out and installing piping, tubing, fittings, and all related components
  • 2-3 years' experience installing, testing, and maintaining low- and high-pressure steam and condensate systems
  • 2-3 years' experience rigging, hoisting, lifting, and positioning equipment
  • 2-3 Years' Oil/Gas Industry experience
  • Physical strength and stamina
  • Manual dexterity
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • The ability to read and understand complex instructions and drawings
  • The ability to do careful and precise work
  • May be required to lift items weighing over 25 kilograms
  • Must be willing to work in remote job locations
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Must have a strong understanding of safety procedures and policies on an industrial job site
Compensation and Benefits
  • $45.33 - $50.00 hourly rate
  • Shift rotation to change per project requirements
  • 5 days on, 2 days off
  • 10 days on, 4 days off
  • 14 days on, 7 days off
  • 21 days on, 7 days off
  • 6 days on, 1 day off
  • 10 hours per day – hours flexible to change
  • Overtime is given at the rate of 1.5 times the employee straight time hourly rate after 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week
  • Overtime will be paid when an employee works on any regularly scheduled day off
  • All compensation and benefits will be in accordance with the Collective Agreement
  • 6% vacation and 4% statutory holiday pay will be provided in accordance with the Collective Agreement
Working Conditions and Environment
  • Primary work location at site in Edmonton/Sherwood Park/Fort Saskatchewan (and surrounding areas), Alberta with work and travel required throughout Alberta
  • Repetitive movement
  • Able to perform in a fast-paced environment
  • Continuously changing work tasks
  • Ability to work a significant amount of hours throughout the day
  • Ability to lift and work with materials weighing up to 25kg
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions and environments
