About the Role:

At PHSA, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Speech Language Pathologist to join our team at BC Cancer Vancouver. This is an exciting opportunity to work with patients with speech, language, voice, and swallowing disorders associated with cancer.

Responsibilities:

  • To assess, diagnose, and treat cancer patients with speech, language, voice, and swallowing disorders
  • To perform Certified Practices as recognized by the provincial college, including Videofluoroscopic Swallow Study (VFSS), Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Voice and Swallowing (FEEVS), and tracheoesophageal puncture (TEP) techniques and prostheses
  • To work closely with oncologists, registered dietitians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care
  • To provide recommendations based on clinical findings and diagnoses through informal and formal interdisciplinary meeting structures, patient rounds, and written documentation
  • To maintain detailed records and charting of patient assessments, treatment plans, interventions, progress, discharge, and related matters according to professional and facility standards

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Masters degree in Speech Language Pathology from a university program recognized by Speech-Language & Audiology Canada
  • Three years of recent experience working with oncology patients in a hospital, rehabilitation, or outpatient setting
  • Eligible for certification with the Speech-Language & Audiology Canada
  • Registered with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC
  • Certified Practice Certificates from the CHSBC in the following areas: Videofluoroscopic Assessment and Management of Adult Swallowing Disorders, Tracheoesophageal Voice Restoration Assessment and Management, Communication and Swallowing Assessment and Management for Tracheostomy, and Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Voice and Swallowing (FEEVS) for Adults
