About the Role

In Cancer Care Alberta, the Rehabilitation Oncology (RO) team is seeking a skilled Occupational Therapist to collaborate closely with healthcare professionals and develop services and patient education materials. The successful candidate will support both inpatient and outpatient services, working under the general supervision of the Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Triage and screen referrals to ensure timely and effective patient care
  • Manage caseload in assigned areas and assess patients' needs
  • Develop and implement tailored rehabilitation plans to help patients adapt to life and functional changes due to cancer treatment
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including participating in rounds, family conferences, and meetings
  • Mentor staff and students
  • Co-create and provide educational materials for patients, families, and community partners
  • Support cross-coverage across inpatient units and outpatient clinics

Requirements:

  • Completion of a bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program
  • Registration with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT)
  • Active Heart and Stroke Foundation BLS Certification by first day of work
  • At least two years of experience working in adult urban settings, including hospitals, clinics, and home care
  • Experience working with patients undergoing chemotherapy, systemic therapy, and radiation therapy
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience providing occupational therapy in an interdisciplinary team
  • Experience with wheelchair and seating assessments
  • Demonstrated effective time management and organization skills
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite programs
