Job Title: Speech Language Pathologist - Acute Care Specialist

Job Summary:

The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) is a key member of the interdisciplinary team responsible for providing direct clinical care, including assessment and therapy, to patients in need of SLP services in an acute care setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop individualized treatment plans for patients with communication and swallowing disorders.
  • Provide evidence-based therapy services, including speech, language, and swallowing interventions, to patients in need.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement effective treatment plans that meet the unique needs of each patient.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient progress and develop strategies for improving patient outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records, including assessment results, treatment plans, and progress notes.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited university.
  • Membership in good standing with the College of Audiologist and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO), preferred.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certificate.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience as a Speech Language Pathologist, preferred.
  • Prior experience in a hospital setting, rehabilitation setting, or acute care setting is an asset.
