We are seeking a skilled Software Engineering Professional for a contract position with one of our clients in the Milton, Ontario area.

Duration: 04+ Months

Job Responsibilities:

  • Translate technical system specifications into working, tested applications.
  • Develop detailed programming specifications.
  • Write and/or generate code.
  • Compile data-driven programs, maintain, and conduct unit tests.
  • Resolve and troubleshoot technical problems that arise during software package use and operation.

General Skills:

  • Experience in programming and analysis; specialized software package support at the specified experience level.
  • Able to collaborate with IT professionals throughout the software development life cycle.
  • Knowledge of structured methodologies for application development, design, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Experience in designing, coding, testing, debugging, and documenting applications.
  • Familiarity with object-oriented and third-generation language development tools.
  • Experience in one or more programming languages.
  • Familiarity with relational and hierarchical database technologies.
  • Experience with information retrieval packages using query languages.
  • Knowledge of one or more communication protocols.
  • Experience with structured methodologies for application design, development, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Ability to elicit and document information from diverse business stakeholders and subject matter experts.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills; verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • A team player with a track record of meeting deadlines.

Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge and experience with programming Internet-ready applications.
  • Knowledge and experience in rapid application development (RAD) methodologies.
  • Understanding of Information Management principles, concepts, policies, and practices.
  • Experience with middleware and gateways.
  • Experience reviewing, analyzing, and modifying product installation scripts, including encoding, testing, and debugging.
  • Ability to provide post-implementation support and resolve any post-implementation technical issues.
  • Experience conducting design walkthrough sessions with project teams.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) and related regulations and standards.
  • Ability to provide user and system documentation as required.

Experience and Skill Set Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience developing VB.NET platform (C#, ASP.NET, Java Clientts .NET Core) in Visual Studio 2019, HTML, CSS, Jquery, Spring.NET framework, other emerging web technologies, and deployment models to implement application enhancements as per design documents.
  • Demonstrated development experience with Oracle 11.x, 12.x, 19c databases.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and integrating Crystal 2020 reports into VB.NET projects.
  • Demonstrated experience developing for WCAG AA compliance and interface design to support screen reader use.
  • Demonstrated experience with GIT, Azure DevOpts, pipelines, CI/CD as well as Windows Server configurations.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting analysis and participating in design, development, and testing activities; liaising with IT specialists and unit leads and working closely with team members and relevant stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience participating in working groups and client interviews to define and document needs, processes, and problem resolution.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting the analysis of existing release/infrastructure/change management processes, designing, and recommending process improvements to effectively harness the benefits of using the application(s) as well as tools.
  • Demonstrated experience working closely with managers and team members on issues and business needs.
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with other groups to ensure optimal integration.

Estimated Salary: $120,000-$150,000 per year.
