Project Overview

This multi-billion-dollar capital program aims to introduce electrification, enhance service frequency, reduce journey times, and modernize the entire system for the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area. The project will set new standards for transportation excellence and provide a unique opportunity for experienced professionals to make a meaningful contribution.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to lead our Estimating team on this historic project. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing expert guidance and fostering a collaborative environment. You will utilize your extensive experience in construction estimating to conduct comprehensive reviews of drawings and tender documents, demonstrate expertise in design models and integrated digital delivery software, and develop meticulous bills of quantities (BOQ).

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of estimators, providing expert guidance and fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Conduct comprehensive reviews of drawings and tender documents to grasp the complete scope of work and submission requirements.
  • Demonstrate expertise in design models and integrated digital delivery software for precise project scope evaluation and quantity generation.
  • Develop meticulous bills of quantities (BOQ) by leveraging your experience and employing various advanced techniques, including Bluebeam.
  • Leverage your decade-long experience to establish material price lists (derived from BOQs), labor costs per manhour, equipment requirements, and assemble crews while accurately pricing BOQ items.
  • Utilize your extensive network and deep knowledge of the industry to obtain competitive pricing from subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring cost efficiency without compromising on quality.
  • Maintain meticulous records of working documents as essential backup for estimating figures.
  • Provide valuable insights into the design process, leveraging your vast knowledge to ensure a seamless transition from planning to execution.

Requirements

  • Over 10 years of hands-on experience as an estimator in the construction industry, with a proven track record of successfully estimating projects of significant scale and complexity.
  • A solid educational foundation with a university degree or technical college diploma in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
  • Proficiency in reading, interpreting, and comprehending complex construction drawings and blueprints.
  • In-depth understanding of construction methodologies, contracts, and cost control techniques.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to build and maintain strong relationships, outstanding communication abilities, and impeccable attention to detail.
  • Proven leadership capabilities, enabling you to guide and inspire your team to achieve outstanding results.
  • Advanced proficiency in standard Microsoft software (Excel, Word, etc.), with additional experience in Adobe, Visio, and Bluebeam.
  • Impeccable time management and organizational skills, ensuring efficiency in time-sensitive situations.

What We Offer

We offer a highly competitive salary range of $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience, plus benefits and opportunities for professional growth and development.
