Job Description

We seek a skilled and experienced relational database administrator to join our Infrastructure and Platform team. As a Database Administrator, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, administering, and optimizing SQL Server, Postgres, MySQL, or CockroachDB database systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the availability, reliability, and performance of our database infrastructure.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and maintaining database systems, including configuration and optimization of SQL Server, Postgres, MySQL, or CockroachDB on Windows and Linux infrastructure
  • Installing, configuring, and upgrading database software and related components
  • Automating database configuration, maintenance tasks, and monitoring using scripting and infrastructure-as-code tools
  • Monitoring and optimizing database performance to ensure high availability and scalability
  • Supporting client database functions, including data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) services
  • Providing management reports, customer reports, and data extracts
  • Performing database backups, restores, and disaster recovery procedures
  • Developing and maintaining database security protocols to ensure data privacy and integrity
  • Providing support and guidance to developers and other team members regarding database-related topics
  • Participating in capacity planning and performance tuning activities
About You

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Proven experience as a Database Administrator, managing SQL Server, Postgres, MySQL, or CockroachDB databases
  • A strong understanding of database concepts, principles, and best practices
  • Proficiency in writing and optimizing SQL queries
  • Experience with database performance tuning and optimization techniques
  • Familiarity with backup and recovery procedures, replication, and high availability strategies
  • Solid understanding of database security and access control
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities, working effectively within a team environment
Compensation

The estimated salary range for this role is $90,000-$130,000 CAD per year, based on location and industry standards. In addition to the base salary, compensation includes a corporate bonus, extended health benefits, RRSP matching, and an enticing commission structure for applicable Sales roles.
