Empire Life is seeking a Risk Assessment Specialist to join our Group Underwriting team. This role involves reviewing and assessing the risk for requests to quote, amendments, and renewals. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of work experience in the group insurance/financial services industry with group underwriting experience and knowledge.

Salary

We offer a competitive salary range of $80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience. In addition to your base salary, you will also be eligible for an annual bonus program, which recognizes both strong company performance and individual contributions.

Job Description

The Risk Assessment Specialist will be responsible for ensuring that non-complex and complex requests to quote, amendments, and renewals are processed accurately and within established turnaround times to support business sales and profitability goals. This includes leading quoting, amending, and renewal activity in both non-complex and complex spaces, using experience and judgment to determine optimal solutions to meet customer needs and requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and assess the risk for requests to quote, amendments, and renewals
  • Lead quoting, amending, and renewal activity in non-complex and complex spaces
  • Determine optimal solutions to meet customer needs and requirements
  • Process risk reviews of mergers, breakaways, open enrollments, MOFAs, additions or removals of divisions
  • Interact with reinsurance providers to spread risks on retention amounts that exceed Empire Life's retention limit
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of work experience in the group insurance/financial services industry with group underwriting experience and knowledge
  • Proven knowledge of group benefits products, contractual provisions, risk assessment, and pricing methodologies
  • Strong critical thinking, financial analysis, and interpretation skills
  • Strong proficiency in Excel
