Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre is seeking a skilled Environmental Services Aide to join our dedicated team. As an Environmental Services Aide, you will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of our facilities, ensuring a healthy environment for our patients and staff.

Job Description

This is a dynamic role that requires a strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills. You will be responsible for cleaning and maintaining patient rooms, hallways, kitchens, bathrooms, offices, and other areas of the facility. This includes removing recyclables and garbage/waste from multiple locations, performing floor care, and cleaning and disinfecting Operating Rooms according to O.R. standards.

In addition to these duties, you will also be required to:

  • Clean and maintain elevators and stairs
  • Perform cross-functional and other duties as assigned
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A high school diploma or recognized equivalent
  • One year of experience working in a housekeeping department
  • The ability to use tools and equipment common to the work being performed, including vacuum, dry mop, auto scrubber, polisher etc.
  • The ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including standing, sweeping, pushing/pulling carts, reaching forward and above and below the shoulders, able to lift up to 15 kg
  • Knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information Systems (WHMIS), chemicals and dilution rates
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and other relevant legislation
  • Familiarity in handling different types of wastes throughout the health centre
  • Compliance with Body Substance Precaution provisions
  • Compliance with sanitary and infection control requirements
  • Compliance with confidentiality requirements under RVH Privacy Policy

You will also need to demonstrate:

  • Able to be well organized, motivated and handle a constant and varied workload and adjust priorities
  • Client service oriented, with the ability to effectively work with diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines in accordance with RVH standards
  • Exercise initiative and good judgment with ability to multi-task and work independently
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently to understand verbal orders and/or instructions

$45,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. Please note that availability to work week days and weekends, as well as all shifts - days, evenings, and nights may be required.
