Job Title: Highly Skilled Project Estimator - Power Infrastructure

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled project estimator to join our team at TEEMA. As a key member of our estimating team, you will play a vital role in the delivery of infrastructure projects.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cost estimating and experience working on large infrastructure projects, particularly in the power transmission sector. You will be responsible for preparing project cost estimates during the planning phase and collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop project cost estimates.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working on complex projects with diverse stakeholders and technical challenges. You will work closely with our team to ensure that project estimates are accurate and aligned with business drivers and policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare project cost estimates during the planning phase.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop project cost estimates.
  • Provide input on construction methodology, schedule, and project delivery methodology.
  • Maintain relationships across the organization and use your understanding of business drivers, policies, and procedures to ensure the project estimate is appropriate.

You will also be required to formally and informally present or answer questions regarding project costs estimates, including communicating with various levels of management within the organization and with external stakeholders.

Requirements
  • A degree in electrical, civil, or structural engineering from a recognized university.
  • Candidates with engineering degrees in other disciplines may be considered if they possess the required level of applicable experience for this position.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with an electrical (power) engineering background.
  • A minimum of 8 years of combined experience in estimating, design, or construction of industrial or infrastructure type projects, preferably on substation or transmission line projects.
  • Experience preparing full project cost estimates for infrastructure construction projects, including escalation calculations, and risk quantification analysis to determine the contingency.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Thorough knowledge of indirect costs and application of these to Owner's estimates.
  • A solid understanding of the activities that happen at each phase of a project through its lifecycle, from initiation through to project closure.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies such as Agile or Waterfall.
  • Proficiency with MS Office products, Adobe Acrobat Professional, Primavera P6, and @Risk.
