Facilities Maintenance Specialist

Job Summary

The selected candidate will be responsible for handling service calls, monitoring, maintaining, and repairing systems, equipment, and installations not specific to a trade. This role may also involve supporting the team leader in coordinating inspections or working with third-party service providers.

Key Responsibilities

Facility maintenance activities:

  • Respond to assigned service calls and follow up with the property management team.
  • Contribute to improving tenant satisfaction by ensuring quality workmanship.
  • Inspect and maintain systems, equipment, and facilities not specific to a trade.
  • Coordinate contractor visits and accompany them when a third-party supplier is required.
  • Make recommendations on system maintenance to improve the effectiveness of the preventive maintenance program.
  • Support the operations team in carrying out other types of preventive maintenance.

Administrative Activities

Receive, implement, track, monitor, and report on maintenance and repair work in the work order management system, including progress and resolution notes.

Record resolution data in the Maintenance Management Services database.

Support the Team Leader in receiving inspection reports from third-party suppliers and integrating them into the database.

Health and Safety

Support the team leader in coordinating and receiving work permits for various jobs.

Report any incidents/accidents observed in accordance with the various procedures in place.

Participate in various training and awareness-raising activities on occupational health and safety issues.

Requirements

  • High school diploma and/or vocational training and/or certification or license.
  • Good knowledge of facility operation and maintenance processes and practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and other building systems and equipment.
  • Strong environmental, health, and safety mindset.
  • Strong customer orientation and sense of urgency.
  • Effective communication skills for relay, exchange, feedback, and clarification of data.
  • Ability to work shifts, be available for emergency/standby calls, and emergency calls as they arise.
  • Strict adherence to health and safety policies, including the wearing of required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to obtain appropriate security clearance.
