Job Title: Marine Mammal Training Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Marine Mammal Training Specialist to join our team at West Edmonton Mall. As a key member of our animal care team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing training programs for our marine mammals, including sea lions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement training programs for marine mammals, including sea lions, to ensure their physical and mental well-being.
  • Collaborate with our animal care team to design and implement enrichment programs for our marine mammals.
  • Provide training and guidance to junior staff members on animal behavior modification and operant conditioning techniques.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of animal training records and reports.
  • Participate in daily animal care activities, including feeding, cleaning, and monitoring the health and well-being of our marine mammals.
Requirements:
  • 10-15 years of experience in animal behavior modification and operant conditioning, with a focus on marine mammals.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant biological field, or equivalent experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of modern animal husbandry techniques and industry guidelines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff and visitors.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs repeatedly and swim.
Working Conditions:

This is a full-time position that requires flexible availability, including days, evenings, and weekends. You must be able to pass a basic security clearance and provide a clear driver's abstract.
